About RM-News.Net

Well, first things first, you have to know that Ruth and I were married in December of 2001. You can read about how we met, how we got engaged, and our wedding announcement on the archived Stories and Trips page. We even have Photo Galleries of pictures from our wedding and honeymoon, along with stories from the two cruises we took as our honeymoon. More recently we've setup our own blogs where you can learn more about each of us (just follow the links above to either Ruth or Marc). The rest of this page is actually about the site itself... not that interesting to most people, but I felt like putting it here anyway :)

Shortly after getting engaged, Marc and Ruth decided that they needed a central location for keeping everyone (including themselves) up to date on all the wedding planning. Marc had also been wanting to get a website, and so RM-News.Net was born. After looking around at a variety of webhosting solutions, they opted to have the site housed through DellHosting.

Although it wasn't the cheapest solution, it offered all the features they needed and more. After a year, DellHosting sold the hosting to Sprint, which transferred the hosting to AppHost, which sold it to PureHost. And, after 4 changes in hosting providers in 4 years, they decided it was time to start over. The site was hosted by LunarPages for a few years until some questionable decisions by the higher ups there made Marc start considering other webhosting options. With Dreamhost offering a free year of hosting to Lunarpages Refugees (a result of one of Lunarpages bad choices), Marc decided it was definitely the time to make the switch again to where the site is now.

Also, having the domain name has allowed Ruth and Marc to keep the same email address over the years. Since the wedding, the focus of the website has changed from all wedding, all the time to more diverse content. And let's face it, one of the main reasons Marc wanted it was so that he could practice his web-development skills, and this gives him a great place to do it, though he doesn't have as much time to play as he'd like.
